Nuffield Health and GenesisCare team up to enhance cancer diagnosis across the UK

International cancer care provider GenesisCare and leading health and wellbeing charity Nuffield Health have signed a new partnership to provide high quality oncology diagnosis, care and treatment. The alliance will co-design and implement complete cancer care pathways for patients in the UK, including expanding existing operations and improving access in under-served regions.

The partnership brings together Nuffield Health’s network of hospitals and healthcare facilities with GenesisCare’s passion for creating care experiences that get the best possible life outcomes for people with cancer. In addition to creating a seamless patient experience, the two groups will also explore opportunities to invest in advanced

oncology technology, the latest treatment techniques, diagnostics and other holistic services, providing a complete treatment pathway for patients unrivalled in the UK.

Chris Blackwell-Frost, Chief Customer Officer at Nuffield Health said: “This is the start of a really exciting collaboration. With our unique structure and not-for-profit model, Nuffield Health is perfectly placed to reach more patients across the UK with innovative and life changing cancer diagnostics and treatments.”

Aldo Rolfo, GenesisCare’s Executive Manager of Europe, said: “We are pleased to be partnering with Nuffield Health to explore how more patients can access the right care at the right time. The partnership will enable us to lead the way in innovation, and open up access to the latest medical technology for people with cancer. Finding out that you or a loved one has cancer can be incredibly challenging, and we look forward to co-designing care experiences that get the best possible outcomes for our patients.”

One example of a new treatment that will be available through the partnership is SpaceOAR® hydrogel: a new intervention that helps to reduce the side-effects of radiotherapy treatment for prostate cancer. This innovative, minimally invasive, procedure implants a biodegradable water-based hydrogel prior to prostate radiotherapy significantly reducing the radiation dose to other nearby tissues

.

GenesisCare and Nuffield Health have worked together to offer this treatment at six facilities (Nuffield Manor Hospital Oxford, Nuffield Leicester Hospital, Nuffield Tunbridge Wells Hospital, Nuffield Chichester Hospital, Nuffield North Staffordshire Hospital and Nuffield Wolverhampton Hospital)  and will be to expanding this to a further nine Nuffield Health hospitals by the end of the year.
