Nuffield Health Tees Hospital opens two new state-of-the-art operating theatres
- Overview
The opening of the two new operating theatres will provide leading clinical facilities for consultants and clinicians to support the healthcare needs of patients from the local community.
The theatres will allow Nuffield Health Tees Hospital to expand elective capacity, helping to reduce the NHS waiting list and provide state-of-the-art facilities for a wider range of vital surgical activities, including knee and hip replacements, spinal care, cataract surgery, prostate, hernia and thyroid treatment, and general surgery.
Stacey Brunton, Health System Director at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital, said: “For over 65 years, our experts at Nuffield Health have worked to make the nation fitter, healthier, happier, and stronger and we’re committed to playing a vital role in the UK’s healthcare system. The investment in our new operating theatres further supports our commitment to deliver exceptional care and even better outcomes for both our NHS and privately paying patients.”
Orthopaedic surgeon, Mr Tony Nargol said: “The opening of the new operating theatres marks a significant milestone in the 43-year history of the hospital. I have been working at Nuffield Health Tees for 22 years and this is by far the biggest development. The cutting-edge technology and patient-centred design means we are more equipped than ever to provide the highest standard of care to Teesside’s patients.
“The new theatres not only improve our ability to care for more people, but they will also improve the overall patient experience, ensuring we deliver the best outcomes and reduced waiting times for surgery.”
Nuffield Health Tees Hospital has partnered with Vanguard Healthcare Solutions to design and build the new theatres. As part of the construction, more parking spaces have also been created at the hospital site in Stockton-on-Tees.
Chris Blackwell-Frost, Vanguard Healthcare Solutions Chief Executive, says: “We have been delighted to partner with Nuffield Health Tees Hospital in creating these two brand new theatres and, in doing so, helping the hospital continue to deliver its vital services in their local community.
“Using modern methods of construction provided a faster, more environmentally friendly, less disruptive and more cost-effective alternative to traditional building methods for Nuffield Tees Hospital, and I know these best-in-class theatres will provide an exemplary clinical environment and help deliver essential healthcare for patients across the Teesside area for many years to come.”
