About

My name is Dr Andrew Ian William James and my specialist field is Clinical Neuropsychology. I am qualified as a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and am registered as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical Psychologist) with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

I have worked as a Clinical Neuropsychologist in hospital, residential and community settings in the field of brain injury rehabilitation for over 20 years.

Since 2006, I have been employed as a Consultant grade Neuropsychologist providing clinical leadership for multi-disciplinary neurorehabilitation teams. On a daily basis my clinical role is to assess the nature and severity of cognitive, emotional and behavioural changes following brain injury as well as devising and implementing treatment and rehabilitation plans in a person-centred context. I have prepared medicolegal expert witness reports since 2006.

Research

Within my current NHS post, I am active in clinical research and have particular interest in improving diagnostic accuracy and with evidence-based clinical decision-making within neuropsychological assessment. I am also interested in neurobehavioural disorders (aggression and inappropriate sexual behaviour) following acquired brain injury and their relationships to executive dysfunction.
