About

Dr Craig Sheridan is a Consultant in Musculoskeletal, Sport & Exercise Medicine (SEM) who practices private medicine in both the UK and Channel Islands. He has provided specialist care within NHS, military and professional sporting environments working regularly with Ipswich Town Football Club, The English Football Association, Henley Royal Regatta and Island Games. He holds a substantive consultant post within the military rehabilitation centres in Colchester and Honington providing specialist sport and musculoskeletal injury care to military personnel and new recruits. As such, he has extensive experience in providing holistic assessments and management of work, military and sport-related injuries.

Dr Sheridan obtained his medical degree from Leicester-Warwick Medical School and masters degree with distinction from Queen Mary University London. He undertook specialist SEM training in the East of England, working for Cambridge University NHS Foundation trust, Ipswich Hospital and within the Ministry of Defences state-of-the-art Defence and Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Stanford Hall.

Dr Sheridan has a particular interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound, which enables him to provide the best care possible for his patients, both in terms of his diagnostic approach and treatment recommendations. He is able to offer bedside diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and ultrasound-guided injections to help determine the specific site of pain and so refine treatment. Patients most likely to benefit from an assessment with Dr Sheridan include those with acute, chronic or degenerative joint and soft tissue conditions, particularly when looking to avoid or not yet requiring surgery; those suffering with chronic pain; recreational or elite athletes requiring injury diagnosis or guidance on exercise rehabilitation; and the industrial athlete with physical work requirements necessitating an efficient, accurate diagnosis alongside timely and effective treatment.

Other interests

Whilst Dr Sheridan enjoys seeing patients to diagnose and treat wide and varied musculoskeletal conditions, he has specific fields of interest that reflect many years working with military personnel, who by virtue of their often arduous training are more at risk of certain overuse conditions. This includes bone stress injury; stress fractures; tendinopathy, symptomatic early arthritis

He also has an interest in using targeted ultrasound guided injections to differentiate different potential pain generators in complex musculoskeletal pain presentations.

Personal interests

Dr Sheridan enjoys skiing with his friends and family as well as using the gym for general fitness, strength and conditioning. He competed in a number of team and individual sports of the years, including playing for his medical school rugby team and captaining the university judo team team. Outside of sport, Dr Sheridan enjoys reading, playing acoustic guitar and developing his teaching interests.
