About

Dr Darren Cave trained and qualified at St Bartholomew's medical school London in 1994. After qualification he worked in hospital posts including General Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Emergency Department. He then trained in General Practice and after qualification in 1998 became a GP partner in Tottenham London.

In 2004 Dr Cave decided, alongside his wife, to relocate to Suffolk to start a family, and has worked as a GP in Ipswich continually since then. Dr Cave maintains his NHS work at The Embrace Medical Centre (formally The Birches Medical Centre) in Kesgrave.

Dr Cave states “I had always wanted to be a GP ever since my medical student days and this reflects some of my specific medical interests, those being general medicine, chronic disease management and elderly care.”

Other interests

Clinical education - Dr Cave has been a GP undergraduate tutor, teaching medical students from the University of East Anglia since 2006 and continues to do so, including working as an examiner since 2022. More recently, he also become a Tier Three GP Educator working with and supervising GP trainees seeing patients and became a GP appraiser in 2024.
