Dr Gerasimos Dimitropoulos

Dr Dimitropoulos graduated from the University of Patras medical school in Greece in 2009. He trained in cardiology in West Midlands and completed his subspecialisation in Electrophysiology and Cardiac Devices at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Birmingham before undertaking the competitive electrophysiology fellowship at the Bristol University Hospital. He undertook his research in antiplatelet therapy and was awarded a PhD in cardiovascular science in 2018. His research has been presented in international scientific meetings and published in high impact journals. He has a degree in Medical Education with the University of Warwick and is involved in the training of junior cardiologists and students of the University of Exeter.

Dr Dimitropoulos was appointed as a Consultant in Cardiology and Electrophysiology at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital in 2021 where he is practicing to date. He is also an honorary Consultant with the University Hospitals of Plymouth, Bristol and Brighton, where he frequently performs complex catheter ablation procedures.

He is a Consultant Cardiologist with experience in all aspects of general cardiology. His area of expertise is investigation and invasive treatment of heart rhythm disorders. He performs complex catheter ablation for all arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, atrial tachycardias, supraventricular tachycardias, ventricular ectopic beats and ventricular tachycardias. He also undertakes complex cardiac device implantations, including pacemakers, transvenous and subcutaneous defibrillators and cardiac device revisions. He is the lead of the ventricular arrhythmia ablation service in Royal Devon and Exeter, where he has setup and runs the Ventricular Tachycardia clinic.

Dr Dimitropoulos holds the prestigious certification in Cardiac Electrophysiology with the European Heart Rhythm Association board and he is a member of the British Cardiovascular Society, the British Heart Rhythm Society and European Society of Cardiology.
