About

Dr James Gamble is a Cardiology Consultant. He sees patients with all cardiac conditions, although he specialises particularly in the treatment of patients with heart failure and the implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators.

He trained in Cambridge and Oxford, and has been a Consultant at the John Radcliffe hospital since 2017. He is the lead for heart failure service in Oxfordshire, and the secondary care lead for the Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire integrated care board.

He strongly believes in the importance of personalising treatment for every patient, and will take the time to help you to get a diagnosis and treatment plan that works for you. He aims to achieve this by carefully selecting tests and treatments that are the most likely to be helpful and to benefit both your symptoms and your overall quality of life.

He sees patients with symptoms and conditions such as breathlessness, leg swelling, excess fluid, palpitations (awareness of an abnormal heart beat), blackouts or collapse, chest pain, and heart failure.

He implants over two hundred pacemakers and similar devices (such as ICDs / implantable cardioverter defibrillators and CRT / cardiac resynchronisation therapy) annually, and in recent years has implanted the most devices of any consultant in Oxford. His specialisation in these procedures allows him to focus on performing them excellently and in achieving the best outcomes for his patients.
