After qualifying in 1989 at Cambridge University and working on a medical rotation at Manchester Royal Infirmary, Dr McAuley undertook specialist training in Neurology on the North Thames rotation and at the National Hospital, where he was awarded the Ralph Noble Prize for his MD thesis. He took up his consultant post in 2001 and was subsequently elected FRCP in 2004.
Since working as a consultant, Dr McAuley has gained a wealth of clinical experience in his NHS practices at King George Hospital and at the Royal London Hospital. He also holds an Honorary Senior Lecture post at Queen Mary College, where he set up an electrophysiological research laboratory to investigate motor control and the pathophysiology of movement disorders.
Special interests
Migraine, movement disorders, vertigo, epilepsy and stroke.
