Dr Kanwar Pannu

Dr Kanwar Pannu is a Respiratory Consultant at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital and specialises in a broad spectrum of respiratory conditions including breathlessness, cough, wheeze, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, asthma, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, tuberculosis, snoring and sleep apnoea, pulmonary nodules, pleural effusions (fluid around the lungs) and lung cancer.

Dr Pannu was appointed Consultant Chest Physician at Basildon University Hospital in 2013. His special interests include chronic cough, airways diseases, sleep-disordered breathing, lung cancer, and  conditions of the lining of the  lung (pleural diseases). He is an accomplished interventional pulmonologist with expertise in bronchoscopy and other advanced interventional procedures.

Dr Pannu has performed > 1,000 bronchoscopic procedures including flexible bronchoscopy and more advanced endobronchial ultrasound bronchoscopy with needle aspirations (EBUS-TBNA). He has performed >500 pleural procedures including aspirations, chest drain insertions including indwelling pleural catheter.

Dr Pannu aims to deliver personalised care plans led by evidence-based practice to achieve optimal outcomes for his patients. He is a published author in leading medical journals and frequently shares his expertise at local GP meetings on topics related to respiratory medicine. 

Dr. Pannu is involved in medical education, both undergraduate and postgraduate. He serves as the local Royal College of Physicians Tutor and lead local PACES examiner. He regularly contributes to national & regional workshops on advanced respiratory care techniques, including pleural ultrasound, chest drain insertions, and bronchoscopy.

Dr. Pannu is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a member of the British Thoracic Society (BTS). He also belongs to several professional organisations focused on respiratory health, including the European Respiratory Society (ERS), the UK Pleural Society, and the European Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (EABIP).
