About
Dr Abdel-Aziz qualified from the University of Leeds Medical School in 2004 with degrees in medicine and surgery and an intercalated BSc in Neuroscience. During undergraduate training he was awarded the Dora Ratcliff Prize and the Centenary & Hardwick Award for Clinical Investigation for research undertaken as an undergraduate.
After completing post-graduate training in general medicine in Yorkshire, he was appointed as a specialist registrar in neurology at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Liverpool, where he completed training in general adult neurology.
In 2010, he was appointed as research registrar at the UCL Institute of Neurology, London / National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, where he undertook MRI research exploring the disease mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration and repair in multiple sclerosis, leading to the award of a PhD from University College London and several peer-reviewed publications and international presentations.
Since March 2015, Dr Abdel-Aziz has worked as a consultant neurologist at Ashford and St Peters Hospitals and St George’s Hospital and runs weekly general neurology clinics as well as specialist clinics for complex/refractory headache disorders and multiple sclerosis.

Dr Abdel-Aziz enjoys spending his spare time in the company of his young family and when possible enjoys playing squash, scuba diving and skiing.

Research
Dr Abdel-Aziz has published approximately 50 peer-reviewed research papers/textbook chapters/ clinical abstracts covering many areas of adult neurology but with a particular focus on multiple sclerosis and headache disorders.
Dr Abdel-Aziz has remained active in clinical research as a consultant and co-supervises doctoral level research projects and acts as principal or co-investigator for neurological clinical trials of new therapeutic agents.
