About

Dr Liz Perry is a highly respected Consultant Rheumatologist and clinical lead for the Rheumatology Service at the University Hospitals of Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). With specialist training in sports medicine, general medicine, and rheumatology, Dr Perry brings a comprehensive skill set to support the delivery of expert rheumatology care.

Working closely with her patients, Dr Perry practices evidence-based management tailored to individual needs and well-being, promoting shared decision-making while considering each patient's unique circumstances.

She is skilled in therapeutic soft tissue injections, joint injections and in diagnostic small joint musculoskeletal ultrasound, which she performs one-stop within her rheumatology clinics to aid early diagnosis and to support clinical decision-making. Dr Perry leads the early inflammatory arthritis service at UHBW and has been pivotal in delivering service re-design to support best practice for the Bristol region.

Dr Perry is a leader in the field of rheumatology with extensive experience in teaching, research and service improvement, and has a track record of delivering multi-agency projects. She strives to support first-class rheumatology care for her patients and to drive forward rheumatology services at local and national level.

Personal interests

Liz enjoys spending time with her young family. She is talented sports person, having played National League Hockey and represented England at junior international level. Liz enjoys supporting sport in her local community, including coaching children’s football and representing her village cricket team.

Research

At National Level Dr Perry is an active member of the British Society of Rheumatology (BSR) Rheumatoid Arthritis-related interstitial lung disease (ILD) special interest group, and of the BSR national guideline development group responsible for guidelines in the diagnosis and management of systemic autoimmune rheumatic disease-ILD (SARD-ILD).

Dr Perry worked as chief investigator for a National NIHR CRN portfolio study, and has completed collaborative research with The Kennedy Institute, Oxford.

She has full and current Good Clinical Practice training and has multiple peer-reviewed publications, including research papers, textbook chapters and clinical abstracts. Her research covers many areas of rheumatology, but with a particular focus on systemic autoimmune rheumatic lung diseases.
