About
Dr Blows has worked as a substantive NHS Consultant Cardiologist for Brighton and Sussex University Hospital Trust between 2010 and 2021.
She was the Clinical Lead and Head of the Cardiology Department between 2016 and 2019, and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory Lead prior to this.
As a consultant, Dr Blows has undertaken all aspects of acute, emergency and outpatient cardiac care, including undertaking out of hours primary angioplasty for patients suffering heart attacks.
Prior to her Consultant appointment, Dr Blows was trained in all aspects of general and interventional cardiology, with most of her specialist cardiology training undertaken at St Thomas' Hospital, London, with a year as the Interventional Cardiology fellow in Brighton in addition.
She was awarded a postgraduate degree after a three year period of clinical research, investigating coronary physiology with Professor Redwood at St Thomas' Hospital.
Having obtained all her specialist qualifications she was awarded a competitive, international Interventional Fellowship, which she undertook in Australia before returning to Sussex.
Dr Blows has looked after high volumes of patients with all general cardiology conditions (for example, coronary artery disease, chest pain, valvular heart disease, palpitations, hypertension and heart failure).
It is very important to her to provide holistic,
individualised care to those who come to see her and it is a priority for her to
be accessible and responsive to her patients.

Out of work much of her time is taken up with her family and young daughter. Dr Blows enjoys walking her dog over the Downs and
running (albeit slowly). She is a keen cook and gardener.

Dr Blows was awarded an MD in 2008 by the University of London for her thesis ‘Physiological Responses to Percutaneous Intervention’.
In addition, she is actively involved in clinical trials undertaken at the Sussex Cardiac Centre.
