About

Dr Matthias Toth is a Consultant General Physician at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital and has over 20 years of experience in clinical medicine. Each patient journey is unique requiring a tailored management plan, and he can offer the commitment, experience and knowledge to help formulate a diagnosis and a treatment plan. In his NHS practice, he has developed fracture liaison services and set up an osteoporosis clinic. He runs a "dizziness, falls and syncope clinic" and offers a tilt service assessing patients with unexplained falls, dizziness and losses of consciousness.

Dr Toth is interested in the prevention of vascular ageing and has attended several conferences focusing on modifying risk factors such as hypertension. He has chaired the drugs and therapeutics committee at Darent Valley Hospital for over 3 years and has audited various clinically relevant adverse drug reactions and interactions which have resulted in a local course on safer prescribing for doctors in training.

Research

Dr Toth started his career in medicine researching excitation contraction coupling of the heart, but as this was purely laboratory based he decided to pursue a career in medicine instead. 

His research efforts are now all based on his clinical interests in fracture prevention, looking at various aspects of osteoporosis management, including screening, diagnostics and treatment.
