Dr Sabharwal is a consultant cardiologist with a subspecialty interest in cardiovascular imaging (echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and cardiac CT). Cardiovascular imaging plays an essential role in the successful diagnosis and subsequent treatment of a wide range of heart disorders, including coronary artery disease, valve disease and heart failure.
Dr Sabharwal is also head of the Nuclear Cardiology Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital. He and another cardiology consultant perform nuclear cardiology tests on over 2000 patients every year.
Other diagnostic tests Dr Sabharwal often uses in his cardiology patients include stress echocardiography (DSE) and transoesophageal echocardiograpy (TOE). A DSE is a non-radiation alternative to the MPS test which provides similar information with regard to the blood supply to the heart. A TOE is an ultrasound scan of the heart that is taken in such a way that prevents other organs blocking the view of the heart so that a full detailed full image of the heart can be achieved.
Dr Sabharwal trained in London and Oxford and was Senior Cardiac Imaging Fellow at Harefield hospital in 2009.
He is the past President of the British Nuclear Cardiology Society, and has British Society of Echocardiography accreditation in both echocardiography and TOE.

When he has spare time, Dr Sabharwal, who has 3 young children, enjoys cycling - though he describes himself as a "fairweather cyclist".
