Dr Peter John

Dr John qualified from UCL Medical School in 1995. He then undertook his hospital training on the North Staffs vocational training scheme and gained experience in a wide range of hospital specialities including paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, general medicine, dermatology and emergency medicine, before completing his general practice qualifications in 2000.

He then gained valuable experience working in a number of different rural, town and inner city practices over the next three years. During this time he also gained some valuable exposure to travel medicine whilst working as a voluntary GP on organised tours whilst travelling around Africa.

Dr John has also worked as a GP for a pharmaceutical company in Manchester involved in drug development. He is currently a full time GP at a busy NHS practice in Kenilworth, looking after 13,500 patients. In addition, he carries out all the minor surgery procedures at the practice and is experienced in the use of cryotherapy. Dr John is involved in assisting with the training of GP trainees.

He has also worked for the local Warwickshire GP out of hours service for over 12 years that covers the whole of South Warwickshire. The challenges faced providing the out of hours service are different from seeing his own patients during the day and this has certainly helped to augment his general practice skills.
