About
Dr Philip Savage trained in Medical Oncology at the Royal Marsden and Imperial Hospitals and was for many years a Consultant at Charing Cross Hospital in London where he was the lead clinician for chemotherapy and urology oncology. Following a career break in Vancouver Island, Canada, working for the British Columbia Cancer Agency, he has recently moved back to the UK and is now combining clinical work in Brighton and Haywards Heath with ongoing transnational scientific research.
Dr Savage has a specialist interest in the management of urology malignancies and also in rare malignancies. He has written a number of regional and national treatment guidelines and published over 120 papers on clinical practice and cancer research.

Research
Dr Savage obtained a PhD in the immunotherapy of cancer and has retained an ongoing activity in this area. He has worked closely with a number of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies on both immunotherapy and cancer gene therapy projects.
More recently he has worked on a new approach to chemotherapy sensitivity and resistance of cancer cells and exploring the potential for novel approaches to therapy.
Alongside these laboratory based projects, Dr Savage has also published a number of papers looking at clinical research predominantly in gynaecology oncology and uro-oncology.
