About

Born and brought up in Yorkshire, Rachel graduated with honours from the University of Leeds School of Medicine in 2007.  An early interest in aspects of skin health led her to undertake an additional BSc in pharmacology with research into wound healing during her time at University.

She then went on to complete her post-graduate general medical training in Yorkshire and secured a sought after specialist dermatology training post with the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery, subsequently gaining four years’ experience working alongside some of the most highly regarded dermatologists in the country.  This included experience in a number of specialist areas of dermatology at a regional and supra-regional level, including; acne, skin cancer, laser dermatology, stoma, genital, hair, nails, paediatric dermatology, connective tissue disease, leg ulcer, photobiology, and cutaneous allergy.

On completion of her dermatology specialist training, Rachel secured a prestigious 12-month training fellowship in Laser Dermatology & Skin Cancer which then led to the acquisition of her current NHS Substantive Consultant post as clinic lead of the Yorkshire & Humber regional dermatological laser service based at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.  She now joins a very small number of NHS Consultant dermatologists in the UK with specific training in laser dermatology.

Rachel currently offers diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of dermatological conditions including inflammatory conditions such as acne, eczema & psoriasis in both adults & children. She also offers diagnosis and treatment of all forms of skin cancer and carries out dermatological surgical procedures for both benign and malignant lesions.

Her main area of interest is laser dermatology which involves the use of powerful monochromatic light sources to safely and effectively treat a wide range of skin problems including birthmarks, telangiectasia (dilated blood vessels), flushing and blushing, spider vessels, acquired vascular lesions, pigmented lesions, scars, rhinophyma, benign lesions and excess hair.
