About
Dr Shanaya Rathod is a Consultant Psychiatrist, Director of Research with Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. and visiting Professor at the Faculty of Science, University of Portsmouth. She is the Mental Health Clinical Lead for Wessex Clinical Research Network and Academic Health Sciences Network. She has been a Fellow of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (2010 – 2013).
Dr Rathod specialized as a Psychiatrist in Wessex, gaining full membership of the Royal College Of Psychiatrists and accreditation with the GMC as a specialist in adult and old age psychiatry. She completed a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Southampton and a Masters in Leadership from the University of Birmingham and NHS Leadership Academy.
Over the years she has mastered specialist skills in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of common and severe enduring mental health conditions. She has expertise in supporting people through stressful times, through developing their resilience and coaching them towards recovery. She aims to provide a high quality personalized and friendly service where a patient’s experience, choice, and needs come first. She understands the needs of carers and does her best to provide family friendly services.

Dr Rathod is involved in a number of research projects nationally and internationally and her research continues to influence national strategy. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, authored books mainly on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and is an invited speaker at national and international events.
She is the international advisor on culture and health to The Centre for Applied Research and Evaluation – International Foundation (careif) and she has been the recipient of national and international awards for her work.
