Dr Mehta sees children with all aspects of general paediatric problems, as well as looking after children with brain disorders.
He accepts referrals from GPs, allied health professionals such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists, self-referrals from patients with a backup letter from a GP to follow, other colleagues and medical professionals.
His special interest is paediatric neurology and neurodisability. He deals with different kinds of neurological problems in children, particularly problems of headache, funny turns, epilepsy, tremors, tic disorder and Tourette’s, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, muscle and nerve related disorders. In addition, he has experience in managing general paediatric problems like reflux, constipation, abdominal pain, cough, asthma and wheeze, eczema, syncope, fainting, chest pain, PoTS, urinary infections, anaemia.
He graduated from India, completed his post-graduation degree in paediatrics from University of Bombay, and obtained a MD degree. He then moved to the UK and trained in a number of centres including St Mary's Hospital Manchester, Leeds General Infirmary, Norfolk, and Norwich University Hospital before taking up the Consultant Paediatrician post at Hull Royal Infirmary. He is current clinical lead for paediatric medicine service at Hull Royal Infirmary.
He has a keen interest in teaching. He regularly teaches in Yorkshire Deanery MRCPCH clinical Course, BPNA run headache (CHaT) and epilepsy courses (PET). Additionally, he is an honorary lecture in paediatrics for Hull York Medical School, MRCPCH clinical examiner elect and an EPALS course instructor.
