About
Dr Shaikh is a Consultant Cardiologist with decades of experience in managing all aspects of general cardiology including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, light-headedness, blackouts, high blood pressure, heart failure and more. She is passionate about cardiac prevention and therefore welcomes anyone who would like to discuss optimisation of risk factors such as cholesterol and blood pressure.
She knows how unsettling cardiac symptoms can be, so initial consultations are a full hour, during which she fully evaluates the issues and strives to get to the root causes. This enables her to develop a personalised investigation and treatment plan. with enough time for questions.
She organises, performs and interprets all initial cardiac investigations. She arranges advanced cardiac imaging with CT or MRI, and additional invasive testing if required.
Dr Shaikh qualified from the University of Nottingham in 2001 and trained in teaching hospitals across Nottingham, Cardiff, London and Liverpool. This gave her an excellent grounding in both general medicine and cardiology. She has a special interest in both prevention of heart disease and cardiac imaging. She has lectured both locally and nationally in these areas.
Her PhD was funded by the British Heart Foundation and examined the interplay between the cardiovascular system, respiratory system and sleep. This sparked an ongoing interest in the relationship between sleep and the heart. She currently works in clinics in Surrey and Berkshire.
