About

Mr Andrew Ballaro is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital specialising in general adult urology and the management of prostate problems and kidney stones.
Mr Ballaro has been a full time NHS Consultant Urological Surgeon at BHRUT NHS Trust for 16 years and is highly experienced in the management of all adult urology problems. He has developed specialist interests in the management of problems caused by the enlarged prostate and urinary retention, the comprehensive management of kidney stones and prostate cancer diagnosis. 
He offers a range of treatments for benign prostatic enlargement and urinary retention including Holmium laser prostatectomy (HoLEP), which is the recommended treatment for very large prostates and which he introduced into his NHS Trust in 2017. In a recent audit of over 100 patients 99% of patients with catheters went home the day after surgery passing urine well. Mr Ballaro also runs a high volume laser stone practice and regularly publishes some of the best surgical outcomes for complex stone surgery in the country. He offers MRI-Fusion Transperineal biopsy for the diagnosis of prostate cancer which is the most accurate an minimally invasive technique available, and provides impartial advice and access to the best experts in London for definitive prostate cancer treatments. He is also highly experienced in the management of prostatitis and pelvic pain syndromes, infections and all adult general urological surgery.
Mr Ballaro runs a highly regarded private practice with easy patient access results and post-consultation advice and has been awarded numerous Iwantgreatcare certificates of excellence based on verified patient reviews. He currently enjoys a 94% patient satisfaction rating independently surveyed by the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) from a large random sample of his surgery patients and works with an award winning highly responsive professional practice management team enabling him to focus on bespoke patient care and outstanding communication.
Mr Ballaro qualified from The Royal Free Hospital Medical School and undertook basic surgical training in Oxford.  After being awarded a Masters degree in Urology, several prestigious research fellowships and an MD from The Institute of Urology at University College London he completed higher urological training on the North London Training Scheme. He is on the GMC Specialist Register.
In addition to his clinical interests, Mr Ballaro has an interest in education and research. He has over fifty peer reviewed publications on minimally invasive surgical techniques and basic science. He trains Urologists at all levels and is co-author of the latest edition of the standard medical student textbook ‘Lecture notes in Urology’.
