About

Mr Houghton is a General and Vascular Surgeon at the Royal Shrewsbury and Shropshire Nuffield Hospitals.

As a General Surgeon he is particularly interested in hernia repairs, both inguinal as well as umbilical and other hernias. As a Vascular Surgeon he is involved in procedures on veins and arteries.  As an Endocrine Surgeon, Mr Houghton has a particular interested in parathyroid surgery and is a member of the British association of endocrine and thyroid surgeons.

He is the Lead Paediatric Surgeon for the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, operating on children with hernias, testicular maldescent and foreskin problems.

Mr Houghton did his general surgical training at Guy's Hospital in London in the 1990’s. Following a period of research in abdominal surgery he went on to specialise in vascular surgery, publishing papers on various aspects of abdominal and lower limb surgery.
