Mr Cockbain is a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgeon. 

His practice focuses on weight loss (bariatric / obesity) surgery), the treatment of gallstones and hernias, and surgery for patients with hiatal hernias and acid reflux.

He specialises in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery and has pioneered the introduction of robotic surgery for weight loss, acid reflux, and cancer treatment in Leeds. 

He is an integral member of the Leeds weight-loss multi-disciplinary team and offers a full range of surgical and non-surgical treatments to help patients lose weight.

Mr Cockbain is a strong patient advocate and believes in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.  He will take the time to discuss different treatment options and help you to make the choices best suited to your individual needs.

Mr Cockbain is actively involved in delivering several large UK trials. These include new surgical techniques and treatments to improve patient outcomes, and novel methods to monitor patients after surgery to improve quality of life. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and presented his work nationally and internationally.
