About

Mr Subramanian is dual fellowship trained and certified in Orthopaedic spine and Neurospine surgery. He has completed the prestigious Central London Spinal Fellowship program at Guys & St. Thomas’ Hospital and National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queens Square.  He also completed his National Scottish Spinal Deformity Fellowship in Edinburgh and is formally trained in Adult and Paediatric complex deformity corrections including all forms of spinal osteotomies.

Mr Subramanian treats all conditions of the spine from cranio-vertebral junction to sacrum including trauma, tumour, infection, deformity and degenerative disorders in adult and paediatric patients. His special interests are Spinal Deformity, Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and Endoscopic Spine Surgery, Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and Spinal Deformity.

He was also a Specialist Advisor to NICE for Spinal surgery.

Mr Subramanian is one of only a few surgeons able to perform Endoscopic Spine Surgery in the UK. He has established this practice in Taunton and has set up Musgrove Park Hospital as a reference centre for endoscopic spine surgery. He is a Proctor, teacher and mentor to several spinal surgeons in the UK/Europe and Asia to help set up their endoscopic spine practice. He is interested in teaching and is a Senior Clinical Tutor at the University of Plymouth. He has played roles at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Bristol and is a Regional Surgical Ambassador for the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and continues to guide medical students and aspiring trainee doctors towards a career in Surgery.

Personal interests

Mr Subramanian enjoys playing cricket, having played competitive cricket in India and UK, he also likes badminton, tennis and travelling around the country side. He has a love of nature and enjoys cycling around Taunton and the hills.

His wife is a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and he has two boys aged twelve and nineteen.
