About
Mr Squires studied medicine at Charing Cross Medical School in London qualifying in 1990. Most of his surgical training has been on the Bristol Training Scheme. He had specialist Fellowship Training on Hip and Knee arthroplasty, having been the "Ling Fellow" at Exeter.
He is a surgical trainer and educational supervisor for the junior doctors within the NHS. He has his responsibility for thromboprohylaxis within the orthopaedic department. He is local lead for the National Joint Registry and involved with the King's Fund with a project to improve patient experience in orthopaedics.

Mr Squires is a very experienced surgeon, who according to the National Joint Registry at the start of 2022 had performed more than 4000 major joint replacements during his career. Nearly 600 of these were revision hip replacements.
Personal interests
He was was appointed consultant in 2003. He was delighted to move to Taunton and loves living in this area. When off duty, Mr Squires enjoys walking the Quantock Hills with his wife or mountain biking with his two sons.

Research
Mr Squires research interests include the role of total hip replacement for treating hip fractures. He has published papers on this subject and set up a randomized multicentre study, examining the best way of treating hip fractures. He has also published research on whiplash injuries and calcaneal fractures.
