He was awarded his PhD with honours by the Medical School of the University of Athens in 2012 on “Impact of metabolic disturbances and glycotoxins on the reproductive system of male rats and mice”. His PhD training has offered him insight into basic research and molecular biology techniques. His findings supported simple dietetic intervention to have beneficial effects on metabolic dysfunction of the reproductive system before overt manifestations.
He has participated in various roles in randomised controlled national and international trials assessing medications and approaches in the treatment of prostate and bladder cancer. He was widely published in national and international journals. His current interest is in novel biomarkers in prostate cancer diagnostics and prognostic value.
