About
Gavin Robertson was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in Leicester in 1999. Having qualified in 1984 he then trained in Centres across the world for 15 years. He developed expertise in Laparoscopic/keyhole surgery from its inception in 1993.
Since his Consultant appointment, he has built a busy private practice over more than 24 years. The majority of the patients he now sees come to him with problems with gallstones or hernias where his laparoscopic expertise allows prompt minimally invasive treatment.
During his Consultant career, he has performed over 6000 laparoscopic cholecystectomies with no bile duct injuries to date (National figures suggest an expected rate of around 0.5%). He has a regular weekly endoscopy list, treating people with bile duct gallstones, requiring complex interventions.
With an experience in over 6500 hernia repairs, he regularly performs not only groin hernia repairs but also more complex incisional and other abdominal wall repairs.
Other interests include the endoscopic diagnosis of acid reflux disease, appendicectomy and the investigation of abdominal pain.
Services offered at The Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital include;
- Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy for gallstones
- Laparoscopic hernia repairs (inguinal, incisional, umbilical and ventral)
