About
Mr Guy Thorburn is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with over 25 years of experience.
He is based at Oxford University Hospitals Trust. Prior to this, he was a consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the renowned St Andrew's Centre for Plastic Surgery in Broomfield.
Mr Thorburn qualified from the University of Nottingham.
He is an expert in Paediatric and Adult Plastic Surgery. He specialises in Cleft lip and Palate and other facial reconstruction, ear anomalies, nasal surgery, vascular anomalies, haemangiomas and hypospadias.
Mr Thorburn has received clinical excellence awards since 2012 and has received commendations for his evidence-based practice, which is tailored to his patients' needs.
Working with adults and children means he brings both empathy and compassion to his work.

Mr Thorburn has a keen interest in Medical Ethics and Law. He has an MA from the University of Manchester and is a member of the OUH NHS Trust Clinical Ethics Advisory Group. Previously, Mr Thorburn was a member of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Clinical Ethics Committee. He sat on the GMC's Fitness to Practise panels for a decade.
He was awarded two prestigious fellowships: The National Interface Training Fellowship in Cleft Lip and Palate at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and The Aesthetic Fellowship at The London Clinic.
Mr Thorburn is a member of several professional organisations, including the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland (where he is a council member and chair of the Surgical Network) and the Institute of Medical Ethics.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
