Mr Hanish Chauhan

Hanish graduated from University of Sheffield in 2008 and over the past few years he has taken full advantage of the opportunity to consolidate his knowledge and become a competent and an experienced clinician, gaining a good range of experience in Orthoptics. His speciality includes examining and managing paediatric and adult patients with diplopia (double vision), eye movement abnormalities, lazy eye (ambylopia), squints and defects of binocular vision. He has a specialist interest in neuro-ophthalmology which involves assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with cranial nerve palsies.

Working in a large teaching hospital, Hanish regularly teaches medical students (University of Leicester), pre-reg optometrists and orthoptic students, he finds this rewarding and is keen to continue and develop this aspect of his work. He has completed a clinical tutors course from University of Liverpool to further his teaching skills and regularly conducts interesting case presentations to other professionals within the eye department.

Other clinical experience includes biometrys (measurements of the eyes) for cataract patients and glaucoma clinics which include measuring eye pressures, testing visual fields and working independently in community hospitals.

Mr Chauhan treats adults aged 35 to 40 years old.
