Mr Hazem Nijim

Mr Nijim is a consultant otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon at the University hospitals of Derby and Burton. He specializes in head and neck oncological surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and salivary gland surgery. He leads the multi-disciplinary thyroid oncology team in Derby and Burton. Additionally, he is a member of the multi-disciplinary head and neck oncology team that provides cancer services to Derbyshire residents.

Mr Nijim graduated from Santiago de Compostela University in Spain in 2001. Following training in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery in Spain, he completed prestigious fellowships in head and neck and thyroid oncology in France and the United Kingdom. Among his areas of expertise are head and neck oncology, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and salivary gland surgery.

He has always been passionate about teaching and has completed a postgraduate diploma in medical education from the University of Nottingham. He is the undergraduate lead for ENT at Derby Hospital Medical School.

A number of articles have been published by Mr Nijim in peer-reviewed medical journals. Currently, he acts as the principal investigator for the HoT Trial, a national research project on thyroid cancer.
