About
Mr Holton is a Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant specialising in hip and knee arthroplasty and soft tissues disorders. He holds a substantive position at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Holton offers comprehensive management of hip conditions including primary joint replacement, hip resurfacing and revision arthroplasty for all cause revisions of the hip. He also performs partial and total knee replacement and arthroscopic (key-hole) procedures.
Mr Holton commenced his surgical training in the West-Midlands Deanery (Birmingham) and worked with Birmingham University as an Academic Clinical Fellow (ACF). The focus of his research was in joint preservation using injectable stem cells to enhance chondrocyte growth and development. He subsequently completed a masters in clinical research (MRes) before transferring to the Thames Valley Deanery (Oxford) to finish his academic work and complete his surgical training.
To gain more specialist training in the management of hip and knee conditions Mr Holton completed a fellowship in lower limb arthroplasty and young adult hip disorders in Reading at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. He then completed his fellowship training at the world renowned Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. A centre that specialises in the management of complex primary and revision arthroplasty including infection and periprosthetic fracture management.
Personal interests
Mr Holton's sporting passions are competitive clay pigeon shooting and rugby. Although he has retired from playing rugby, he remains an avid supporter. Outside sport, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, where they spend most of their free time enjoying the countryside.
