About
Mr Williams has been a full time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2005. He provides a comprehensive surgical service for arthritic, traumatic or sports conditions affecting the knee.
He studied medicine at Sheffield qualifying with honours in 1992. His general orthopaedic surgical training was based in the South Yorkshire region, Cardiff, and Sydney, Australia. He undertook two international specialist training Fellowships: one as the Lower Limb Fellow at the Adidas sports medicine clinic in Auckland, New Zealand and the other as a Trauma Fellow at Auckland Hospital.
Mr Williams provides an extensive range of open and arthroscopic knee surgical procedures, including knee replacements, ACL reconstructions and surgery for general knee deformity, traumatic or arthritic conditions.

Other interests
Mr Williams a surgical trainer and educational supervisor of junior doctors within the NHS. He was regional trainer of the year in 2016. He is the local Clinical Service Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics and lead for orthopaedic trauma care. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol.
Throughout his career he has been heavily involved in Mountain Rescue, allowing him to combine his interest in medicine and the outdoors. He was awarded the Queens Jubilee Medal in 2002.
Personal interests
Mr Williams married to Helen, a local physiotherapist and has two young active children. In his free time he enjoys being outside in the local area cycling, kayaking or walking.

Mr Williams has published work on kneeling with a knee replacement, ACL reconstruction mechanics, trauma care and trauma teams, MRI findings in knee disorders, the diagnosis of joint infection, consent and the use of vacuum mattresses in pre-hospital care.
