About
James graduated from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine (University College London) in 2000. He was awarded a B.Sc. from The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore for his work in Orthopaedic Science and achieved 1st class honours for research into the hydroxyapatite coatings used in cementless joint replacements.
Having completed the Royal Free/Stanmore basic surgical training programme he embarked on specialist Orthopaedic training in both Stanmore and Southwest Thames, being awarded the FRCS (Tr. & Orth.) in 2014.
He was then offered two prestigious fellowships in Brisbane, Australia. The first year was spent with Dr Bill Donnelly performing arthroplasty of the hip and knee including the use of modern computer-assisted and robotic surgery techniques, and the second year with the world-renowned Dr Peter Myers performing high-volume sports knee surgery on recreational and professional athletes alike. He was also an invited faculty member and lecturer for the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
In 2016 James was appointed as a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery at Tunbridge Wells & Maidstone Hospitals with a special interest in Knee and Hip surgery.

Research
I see research as vital to an informed evidence-based practice and continue to be heavily involved. I have a particular interest in clinical outcomes and use Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) as routine practice. This has allowed me to present at both national and international meetings, as well as publish regularly in peer-reviewed journals. I currently have four papers awaiting publication; from long-term results after meniscal root repair through to a technical paper on avoiding limb length discrepancy after total hip replacement.
