About
Mr Jan Nawrocki is a Consultant Urological Surgeon, practising in Sussex since 1997. He qualified from King's College London School of Medicine in 1985 and trained in medicine, surgery and urology at a number of prestigious institutions including King's College Guy’s, Middlesex, University College, and St George’s Hospitals, as well as St Peter’s Hospital for Stone. He was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1989.
In addition to clinical practice, Mr Nawrocki has been active in academic endeavours in a wide range of fields including applied and translational research in surgery, medical education and medical humanities. In 1994 he was awarded the Clifford Morson prize gold medal by the Institute of Urology for his research into minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. In 1995 his research into the effects of microwaves on the prostate earned him the Master of Surgery (MS) degree from the University of London. In subsequent years he was further awarded an MA and later a PhD, on those occasions in the fields of medical education and humanities.
Mr Nawrocki has held a number of senior local, national, and international positions in medical education and leadership. He is a past Director of Medical Education and executive team member at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS trust, as well as past Associate Postgraduate Dean in Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Notably, he is a Past President of the European Board of Urology, on which he still sits as UK representative, and is active in promoting the highest standards of patient care and urological education.
In clinical practice, Mr Nawrocki provides a wide range of general
urological services, with particular interests in the diagnosis and treatment of
problems and diseases affecting the prostate, bladder, kidneys and male
