About

Mr Norris graduated from Leeds University in 2000 having won the Tomlin Prize in Ophthalmology and the Newham Prize in Physiology. Having completed ophthalmology training in Yorkshire, he gained further fellowship experience in oculoplastic and orbital surgery both at St James’s Hospital in Leeds (Europe’s largest teaching hospital) and at the prestigious Corneo-Plastic unit in East Grinstead.

Mr Norris is a current Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists for which he is also an Examiner. Mr Norris is a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society and sits on the Executive Committee. In 2012 Mr Norris was awarded one of ten national Fellowships with the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).

In 2017 he completed an MSc at Oxford University in Surgical Science and Practice for which he was awarded a Department for Continuing Education Scholarship. His dissertation in facial palsy was awarded a distinction in 2017.He was recently appointed as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the University of Oxford.

Mr Norris has worked as a Trustee for the Madagascan Organisation for Saving Sight (MOSS) and has taken part in two trips as a member of Overseas Partnering and Training Initiative (OPTIN).

Research

Mr Norris has published 60 papers in medical journals including published research in thyroid eye disease, facial palsy, blepharospasm, entropion and ectropion surgery.  He has presented research papers at nationally and internationally and was awarded the Annual Best Publication Prize by the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS) in 2012 and 2015. Mr Norris is currently undertaking an MSc in Surgical Science and Practice at Oxford University.
