About
Mr Javangula started as a consultant cardiac surgeon in India. He gained experience with heart valve surgery and off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting before moving to the U.K. He has worked at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, Blackpool Teaching Hospital and currently works at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He is an honorary lecturer at Leeds School of Medicine and takes a keen interest in mentoring trainees and medical students.
Mr Javangula has a special interest in total arterial revascularisation for CABG, minimally invasive valve surgery and aortic aneurysm surgery. His other areas of surgical expertise include valve repair and replacement for mitral, tricuspid, aortic valves, cardiac tumour resections and pericardiectomy surgery.
Kalyana Javangula has successfully performed over 2,200 major cardiac procedures including acute and emergency operations with a 99% overall survival rate. He has performed more than 1,000 CABG operations with a 99.8% survival rate and more than 550 aortic valve replacement surgeries with a 99.5% survival rate. He has maintained a very low complication rate of less than 1% stroke and less than 1% bleeding complications. Kalyana is the first consultant in the country to achieve a 0% complication rate within first 100 surgeries; this was acknowledged by World Society of Cardiac Surgeons (WSCTS)
