About

Mr Karam Al-Tawil has a well-established NHS practice at Queens and King George Hospitals in London (Barking Havering and Redbridge). He specialises in upper limb surgery - hand & wrist, elbow, and shoulder. This includes soft tissue and bony work, arthroscopic (key-hole) surgery, sports conditions, and joint replacement surgery. Karam completed Orthopaedic training on the prestigious Cambridge rotation, the final year at Addenbrookes Hospital (Cambridge) upper limb unit. He subsequently completed 2 post-CCT fellowships at world-renowned Kings College Hospital London, further specialising in hand & wrist and shoulder & elbow surgery. His undergraduate medical training was at St George’s University of London, achieving distinction and multiple prizes for academic excellence. He holds clinical and educational supervision roles, reviews for orthopaedic journals, and has several publications. Karam is a teaching enthusiast with formal qualification (PGCert in healthcare & biomedical education) and clinical lecturer role at Anglia Ruskin Medical School.

Mr Al-Tawil is surgical consultant contact for hand therapy, runs weekly upper limb MDTs, and co-runs regional complex clinics (spanning 5 hospitals in London / Essex). He is lead for trauma governance. Mr Al-Tawil has set up guidelines and protocols to improve care standards
