About
Kevin Turner was appointed as Consultant Urological Surgeon in Bournemouth in 2007. Having been an undergraduate in Cambridge (where he was awarded a double First Class degree), he qualified from Oxford in 1993 and trained in Urology in Oxford, Edinburgh, and Melbourne. He is interested in all aspects of Urology but particularly in urological cancer, minimally invasive (robotic) surgery, and diseases of the prostate / PSA.
Mr Turner regularly undertakes radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer and he initiated the da Vinci robotic radical prostatectomy in Bournemouth.
Mr Turner is co-author of the Oxford Handbook of Urological Surgery (2nd edition May 2020) and he is an examiner for the FRCS(Urology) examination. As a trainee his research in to kidney cancer was awarded the European Association of Urology Thesis Award and resulted in his election as a Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons. He has authored and co-authored numerous publications, presentations, and book chapters. He currently co-leads a research group at Bournemouth University where he is a Visiting Professor.
Mr Turner is married to a teacher and has teenage twins. He enjoys looking after an old house, being involved in the local church, and keeping fit by running and cycling.

Research
Mr Turner's research thesis in to renal cancer was awarded the European Association of Urology Thesis Award in 2002. In 2004 he was elected an Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in recognition of his research in urological cancer.
