About
Mr Foroughi grew up in Wales and qualified from Sheffield Medical school in 1992, obtaining his FRCS (London) in 1997 and commenced his highly extensive sub-specialised neurosurgical training at the Royal London Hospital before completing his formal Neurosurgical training program at University Hospital of Wales, with extensive training and experience in both Brain & Spinal surgery. This was followed by three long and intensive fellowship programmes.
The first being with the world-renowned Neurosurgical team in Helsinki Finland, specialising in Neuro-Vascular conditions, micro neurosurgery and Skull base surgery techniques, followed by completion of the accredited North-American Paediatric neurosurgical fellowship program in Vancouver Canada, with interest in brain tumours, epilepsy and Neuroendoscopy.
This was followed by a senior fellowship at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, with further experience in skull base surgery and minimally invasive techniques, before working as a Consultant Neurosurgeon for several years at QEH Birmingham, covering both general and complex Brain & Spine surgical disorders including disc problems, spinal trauma, degenerative spine problems, spinal tumours, Congenital spine problems, Chiari malformations, syringomyelia and spinal CSF disorders.
While working in the UK’s largest and busiest Neurosurgical unit, Mr Foroughi supported the National Military Service at QEH and was much involved in the development of the Neuro-Trauma, Neurovascular and Neuro-oncology services. He has worked as a consultant neurosurgeon in Royal Sussex County Hospital and Hurstwood park between 2015 and 2022 specialising in both Brain and Spine Surgery, and is now in private practice only, working in Sussex and London Hospitals
Mr Foroughi has been the recipient of national and international awards in innovations & Neurosurgery. He is experienced and is one of the most highly and extensively trained Neurosurgeons in the United Kingdom, with a passion for minimally invasive techniques, Neuro-endoscopy and microsurgical approaches for the brain and spine.
He is a great believer in good communication, sub-specialisation, teamwork and knowledge sharing so that patients get the best and most appropriate expertise available.
Mr Foroughi also has a special interest in the spine - neck pain, back pain, sciatica, cervical radiculopathy, cervical disc surgery, cervical disc replacement, lumbar disc surgery, microdiscectomy, spinal stenosis, congenital spinal problems, spinal tumours, Chiari malformations, Syringomyelia, Peripheral nerve entrapment, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Ulnar Nerve syndrome and Sciatica.
He also has an interest in CSF Disorders - Hydrocephalus, Arachnoid cysts, Colloid Cysts, Pineal Tumours, as well as Neurovascular disorders – Cerebral Aneurysms, Arteriovenous Malformations, DAVF, Cavernous Hamenagiomas.
Mr Foroughi also specialises in Cranial Nerves & Brain tumours - Including Trigeminal neuralgia & Hemifacial Spasm.
Currently, Mr Foroughi works purely in the private sector, enabling him to focus fully on his private patients and tailor their care.
