About
Mr Oakley grew up in Ludlow, Shropshire. He studied Medicine at the Glasgow University graduating in 1991. His surgical training was in Glasgow and then around Durham and Newcastle. He completed an Arthroplasty Fellowship at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Birmingham and a trauma fellowship in Denver Colorado, USA.
He returned to the Marches in 2003 with his family , taking a consultant post in Hereford.
Mr Oakley now has 25 years of Orthopaedic experience having performed over 3000 Hip and Knee replacements. He submits all his Hip and Knee replacement data to the National Joint Registry in which he has excellent results. He has a specialist interest in problem knee replacements and has taken on and treated over 300 such cases with good results.
He is a Surgeon lead for the Enhanced Recovery Program in Hereford and GIRFT (Getting it Right First Time). Both of these activities are aimed to improve patient experience following hip and knee replacement and reduce length of stay in hospital.
