About
Mr Mike Kent is a fellowship trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with special interests in primary and revision hip replacement, hip trauma surgery and primary knee replacement.
He qualified as a doctor from Guy’s King’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals Medical School in 2004 and completed basic surgical training in Australia and on the south coast before being appointed to the Wessex higher training scheme in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in 2007. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2013 and completed a postgraduate MSc in Trauma Surgery at the University of Swansea in 2013.
Mike undertook sub-specialty fellowship training in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty in Perth, Western Australia and Southampton, UK.

As a consultant he has performed over 1000 joint replacements and was a highly rated trainer in the Peninsula Deanery.
After five years in Devon, Mike and his family decided to move back to Dorset and in 2020 he was appointed as a substantive consultant at University Hospitals Dorset, working at Poole and Royal Bournemouth Hospitals.
Mike has published several research papers in his fields of interest, including enhanced recovery after joint replacement and service improvement in trauma, and continues to present at international conferences and webinars.
