About

Mr Symons is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon based at Oxford University Hospitals and The Manor, Nuffield Health. His NHS practice is predominantly at The Churchill Hospital and he is the clinical lead for colorectal cancer and the colorectal robotic surgery service at OUH.

 He completed his training in general and laparoscopic surgery at both The Royal London and Royal Free Hospitals and then undertook a fellowship at the renowned Basingstoke Peritoneal Malignancy Institute before taking up his post in Oxford.

Research

Mr Symons spent 3 years researching patient safety and quality of care in general surgery at Imperial College London, culminating in a PhD. He was the chairman of the London Surgical Research Group and has authored the Royal College of Surgeons of England guidelines for the management of high-risk surgical patients.
