About

Mr Nick Ohly is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising exclusively in hip and knee replacement surgery, with sub-specialist interests in robotic-assisted surgery and complex and revision hip and knee replacement. He has performed over 3000 joint replacements, and he is one of the highest-volume surgeons using the Mako robotic system in the UK (more than 800 cases to date). He treats patients from across Scotland, both in the NHS and in his private practice at Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital. He is invited to teach internationally on advanced techniques in hip and knee replacement, and he is also active in clinical research, with papers regularly published in the orthopaedic literature.

Mr Ohly completed his medical degree at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2001, and he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He completed his specialist orthopaedic training in Edinburgh, followed by a Fellowship in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. In 2014, he was appointed to an NHS consultant post at the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, where he runs a high-volume hip and knee arthroplasty practice and supervises an international robotic & revision arthroplasty fellowship. He has been consulting privately at Nuffield Health since 2019.

He is passionate about providing high-quality, patient-specific care. New patient appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes to allow sufficient time for a comprehensive discussion about any proposed treatment. This is why he always makes himself available for any questions before and after surgery.
