About
Mr Pubudu Pathiraja started his Surgical career in Sri Lanka, before moving to Northern Ireland and England where he completed his structured postgraduate training programme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. During the course of training he obtained his Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG), and gained Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Mr Pathiraja completed a RCOG certified Sub-Specialty Training in Gynaecological Oncology in Oxford, as well as a member of the British Gynaecological Cancer Society (BGCS). He is also a BSCCP accredited Colposcopist and trainer for colposcopy.
He is an accomplished and experienced advanced laparoscopic surgeon, performing complex radical laparoscopic surgeries for uterine and cervical cancer. He started the robotic surgical program for gynaecology oncology in Oxford. He has a special interest in performing ultra-radical surgery for ovarian cancer; salvage surgery for recurrent disease and exenterative procedures. Mr Pathiraja also has a particular surgical interest in treating pre cancerous disease of vulva and cervix.
Mr Pathiraja has active involvement in teaching registrars/fellows and medical students from Oxford University. His special interests are developing skills in ontological basis of surgical resection and multi-speciality group for complex oncological procedures.
His vision is to disseminate high quality and safe gynaecological oncological care for all women by volunteering and involving in training specialists in the developing and resource poor countries.

Mr Pathiraja currently works as a Consultant in Gynaecological Oncology at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford.
Special interests
Surgery for gynaecological cancer (ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, vulva cancer), premalignant gynaecological diseases (e.g.CIN, VIN), relapsed gynaecological cancer for surgical and holistic treatment, complex benign gynaecological tumours and joint exentrative and reconstruction surgery with multispecialty teams.
