About

Mr Rafik Girgis is an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist, specialising in cataract surgery and general ophthalmology. He trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, where his training included two fellowships in cataract and primary care, before working there for a year as a Consultant.

Mr Girgis has completed over 10,000 cataract surgeries, and is an expert in the field of premium lenses. During your consultation, he will guide you as to which implant would be the most suitable one for you, taking your own circumstances into account.

Between April 2011 and November 2017, Mr Girgis provided the Primary Care Service at Bristol Eye Hospital. He also enjoys teaching junior doctors how to be an efficient, safe cataract surgeon.

Mr Girgis recently completed the Ulster University Cataract and Refractive Surgery Course, PgDip with Distinction. The course takes around nine months to study and complete, and includes over 30 hours of fully narrated lectures, discussions and testing forums, and self-assessment tests. The programme of the course has been designed in collaboration with The Royal College of Ophthalmologists to provide candidates a great depth in the refractive field, including premium lens cataract surgery.
