About

Mr Carter is a full-time specialist Foot and Ankle Surgeon based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital of Glasgow. He is UK-trained in Edinburgh, Cardiff and Glasgow with European Fellowship placements in Vienna, Bordeaux and Zurich. He is a specialist in modern foot and ankle techniques such as joint replacements (ankle and great toe) and bunion (hallux valgus) correction with compression screws avoiding the requirement of post-operative plaster cast immobilisation. He also carries out traditional orthopaedic surgery such as complex hindfoot deformity correction and ankle fusions.

Mr Carter has a specialist interest in sports injuries of the foot and regularly works with a number of professional and elite-level sports teams and organisations. He has a keen interest in rugby and regularly treats the Glasgow Warriors and SRU (Scottish Rugby Union) players. He regularly treats Premiership Football players from around Scotland in addition to Scottish Gymnasts, dancers and athletes from the Scottish Sports Institute. This group of patients has allowed him to develop techniques of early rehabilitation of many foot and ankle conditions such as ankle ligament reconstruction with the internal brace, Achilles tendon repair and rehabilitation, syndesmotic injuries (high ankle sprain), ankle arthroscopy and cartilage treatments and plantar fasciitis.
