About
Mr Robert Turner is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon. He specialises in trauma, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand conditions.
He was appointed as a Consultant at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford in 2008. He is the clinical director for orthopaedics.
He performs the latest treatments, including keyhole surgery. Although he is a skilled surgeon, he can successfully treat a large number of his patients without surgery.
He is keen to understand each patient's individual needs and provide outstanding personalised care. He prides himself on his ability to explain complex medical problems in a manner that is easily understood by his patients.
He qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine and undertook junior medical training in South Wales and Cambridge. His orthopaedic specialist registrar training was in the Bath and Wessex Region. He then completed a specialist fellowship in upper limb surgery at the largest upper limb centre in Canada and took additional training at the Mayo Clinic in America.
He is interested in teaching (including medical students, nursing staff, junior doctors and consultants.) He is a Clinical Lecturer for Keele Medical School and is an Orthopaedic Lead Clinical Tutor.
He also teaches postgraduate doctors on specialist courses. He has publications in international medical books and research journals. He has presented his research nationally and internationally.
