Mr Sam Evans

Sam trained in the south west - working in Exeter and Barnstaple as a junior doctor - before moving to South Wales to complete 10 years training as an Eye Surgeon.  He undertook higher training in oculoplastic and orbital surgery before taking up a Consultant post in West Wales.  He returned to Exeter as a Consultant in 2019 and is heavily involved in developing streamlined cataract treatment pathways.  Sam is a very experienced high volume cataract surgeon - carrying out around 800 cataract operations a year.  He has pioneered “see and treat” cataract surgery in the South West and Wales, meaning that patients need only come to the hospital for the surgery itself - with consultations provided on a telephone call. 

Sam lives in South Devon where he enjoys watersports, doing up his house and enjoying the countryside with his family.
