Mr Simon Bennet

Mr Simon Bennet is a Paediatric Orthopaedic Consultant based at Southampton Children's Hospital.

Mr Bennet specialises in the management of childhood orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions, ranging from assessing walks to checking painful feet or injured knees and wrists.

Assessment often involves making recommendations and referrals for different types of non-surgical treatments for the child, for example, physiotherapy, splints or insoles.

As a surgeon, Mr Bennet has expertise in performing many different kinds of orthopaedic operations, from treating flat feet and ankle injuries, to removing bony lumps or ganglions, to more complex hip surgery. He specialises in providing structured advice about how to rehabilitate back to normal function and support for participation in sports. Mr Bennet's sub-specialist interests include assessing babies and children with foot and limb deformities and also runs the CTEV (clubfoot) service with his colleague Mr Barry. Mr Bennet is also part of the neuromuscular team helping to assess and treat arm and leg problems in children with cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders.

Mr Bennet also runs general children's orthopaedic clinics in Southampton and Poole where he assesses and treats all sorts of childhood conditions, from bunions and ganglions to trigger thumbs.
