Mr Stuart Graham

Mr Graham qualified at St Thomas’s Hospital, part of the United Medical & Dental Schools of Guys & St Thomas’s Hospitals (now part of Kings), in London. After working in Surrey & Eastbourne, he completed his training on the North Central Thames Rotation in Urology and became the Senior Clinical Fellow to the Stone Unit at University College London Hospital and Admin SR/Lead Registrar for 15 months. During this time, he was awarded the Markowicz Prize for being Registrar of the Year.

After 18 months locuming at The Lister Hospital in Stevenage, where he set up a comprehensive stone service, Mr Graham was appointed as Consultant Urologist & Stone Surgeon at Whipps Cross Hospital, now part of Barts NHS Trust. Within six months of starting, he had performed the first PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) in day surgery, set up a Flexible Ureterorenoscopy service, become Principal Investigator for the European GOLIATH trial in Green Light Laser Prostatectomy at the Trust, and Clinical Lead for Day Case Surgery.

At Barts Mr Graham co-leads a new ambulatory acute pathway for patients with acute kidney stone pain and is instrumental in developing a twenty three hour nurse-led discharge pathway to help discharge patients more quickly when they are ready to go home, and an emergency pathway for patients with renal colic. He is also chair of the Urology Local Faculty Group, coordinating junior doctor training. He still retains an Honorary Consultancy with University College.
